Blacksmith Motoring developed a true performance tuned all Stainless 304 steel downpipe for the 1.5T motor found in all the Venice and Carmel Platforms and trim levels. Do not confuse our Blacksmith Vanderhall performance tune downpipe with other companies cat delete pipe which is usually just a lower grade steel metal replacement pipe commonly used in the muffler shop industry. Other manufactured commonly called cat delete pipes often fail at increase consistent performance gains due to their price point development (we develop for performance not price point) and are not considered by us as true performance downpipes. Our Performance downpipe is built to assist in maintaining a consistent exhaust flow which leads to better spooling, more consistent boost, aggressive sound on both OEM stock units and fully tuned units. The  OEM downpipe is the first portion of the exhaust post turbo and is typically the most restricted portion on factory turbocharged vehicles. Upgrading this component to a true performance tuned downpipe, paired with proper tuning, is typically the best bang for your buck modification. The bigger the pressure differential, the better it works. And most importantly, this is why our performance tuned downpipe (which reduces post turbine pressure by improving flow) while assisting in more consistent spool. An aftermarket downpipe (Blacksmith Vanderhall Performance Downpipe) is larger in diameter and it either use with a catted or catless configurations, which assist to create more power to your vehicle because it provides increased high flow rates which allowed the turbo to move gases away from the turbine more efficiently. From the above, we know the purpose of an upgraded downpipe is to increase performance by allowing increased flow.  Turbulence is one main factor.  If the gasses are all stagnating or running into protrusions or running into each other, it creates more backpressure than a well designed system.  The more laminar (smooth and straight) the gasses flow, the more the system can flow for a given pipe diameter. Blacksmith Vanderhall performance downpipe can increase MPG depends on how you drive, the potential for slightly better mpg when cruising should be there after a downpipe and software. Blacksmith Vanderhall Performance downpipe definitely makes the 1.5T sound more aggressive this is due to reduction of backpressure in exhaust. Performance gains can be from 5hp to 15hp depending on the OEM configuration to fully tuned unit.
