Blacksmith Motoring Co has released the Phantom front air ride system for V-Twin applications. Pioneered in the sport bike market, the Phantom was developed as a front cartridge system that can replace the OEM front air ride shocks. This same technology has now been applied to the V-Twin market (41mm shocks). These cartridges have 5 inches of stroke, preset rebound control, and controls that allow height adjustment on the fly.

Each V-Twin front shock has two air cylinders in axial alignment. The two chambers that create lift are connected through an internal passage inside the rod. The use of dual lift chambers greatly reduces the air pressure required to lift the bike, creating a more comfortable ride. Rebound is set by air pressure trapped in one of the rebound chambers. The booster spring reduces the pressure required to lift the bike to mid-stroke, and assists during hard braking.

The Phantom Air cartridges can be adapted to work with several aftermarket triple tree manufacturers' front end parts. Additionally, 2" and 4" extensions are available for custom applications. Consult the factory for details. To install these cartridges, simply remove the oil, springs, and other internal parts of the OEM tube and install the cartridge.
